Temple, Texas: Kiella Real Estate Group hosted their 35th Annual Kiella Cares Golf Classic benefitting Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center on Monday, October 9th at Wildflower Country Club. The event began with a check presentation to Baylor Scott & White Central Texas Foundation for $105,000, which exceeded their fundraising goal of $100,000. The Kiella Cares philanthropic efforts, in collaboration with their industry partners and community friends, resulted in a tremendously successful event!
Over the past six years, the Kiella Cares Golf Classic has been a benefit event aimed at raising funds to support Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center. Together, a total sum of $472,500 has been raised to help the children and families of Central Texas. This year, the money raised will be directed towards initiating a new Cardiovascular Surgery program at McLane Children’s. Currently, children who require heart surgery or a transplant have to be referred to hospitals outside our area, usually in larger cities like Houston or Dallas. This often means that the patients and their families have to spend several months away from home, incurring additional expenses and stress. With your contribution, we can now help to establish this program, which will provide better access to treatment closer to home and benefit these patients and their families.
“We are overjoyed with the overwhelming support from our building industry partners and community leaders as we join together each year to fundraise for McLane Children’s Medical Center, such an incredible local resource at our fingertips. Our focus this year was the new Cardiovascular Surgery Program. Currently, the hospital has a robust cardiology program, but children requiring heart surgery or a transplant must be referred to larger cities which is an added stress for the patients and their families to be displaced for what can be months at a time. As a parent myself, I can’t imagine how that experience would impact me and my family. Each year, our goal is to make an impact on the lives of the children and families seeking medical care at this community hospital. If we can change a life and assist in providing much-needed medical equipment and advanced technology to the doctors and nurses providing this care, then we have done our job! We will continue to advocate for McLane Children’s and provide monetary support so that their focus can remain on their patients. That advocacy is not limited to our golf tournament, but stretches to other local events in support of the children’s hospital like Boots & Bandanas coming up in the Spring of 2024 which is fundraising towards a Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Bypass machine for the new surgery program.,” says Megan Kiella, President of Kiella Homebuilders.
